Administrative Professional Council excited for new academic year

Welcome to a new academic year at Colorado State University! We at the Administrative Professional Council (APC) advocate for your needs and support Administrative Professionals across CSU, Fort Collins and beyond.

As part of Colorado State University’s shared governance structure, we work with the Faculty Council and the Classified Personnel Council to provide guidance and suggestions to University leadership. Whether you have time to volunteer, are willing to share your ideas or simply need to know that we are here to serve your best interests, we welcome your involvement.

We’re always looking for better ways to stay in contact with you.

Recent accomplishments

The previous academic year had some exciting accomplishments! Here are some highlights from the 2022-23 year:

• Completed and reviewed an Employee Perception Survey, with over 1,100 responses and over 800 comments.

• Advocated for compensation analysis and assisted on the search for a compensation specialist for the university.

• Assisted with the fellowship program exploring an annual review system that will provide standard evaluation procedures.

• Created a proposal for a new volunteer program for employees to positively impact their communities that is in the final review stages.

Ongoing evaluation of employee retention efforts, including recognition of off-campus employees.

• Engaged with Policy Office to provide AP-specific feedback on policies in development.

• Partnered with President Amy Parsons, Faculty Council and Classified Personnel Council to engage with the Board of Governors.

• Collaborated with Faculty Council, Classified Personnel Council and Multicultural Staff and Faculty Council to build relationships and push forward benefits for all employees across CSU.

• Reviewed and drafted equitable language edits for sections of the Faculty and Administrative Professional Manual.

• Established standard operating procedures for committee meetings and improved efficiency.

• Updated the APC website to provide accurate and up-to-date information.

• Out of 37 nominations, the Administrative Professional STAR Award was awarded to eight recipients for their exceptional performance and valuable contributions to their respective roles across campus.

• The prestigious Distinguished Administrative Professional Award was given to five individuals, with 20 nominations received for this category, to recognize and highlight the outstanding contributions of administrative professionals.

• In collaboration with BAACC (Black/African American Cultural Center), a winter coat drive was hosted with the collected items donated to Homeward Alliance.

• Worked hard to fill open representative positions to ensure that each admin pro area around the university had proper area representation on the APC.

• Connected directly with Interim President Miranda, President Parsons, VPUO/ CFO Hanlon; VPIT Bernier; Interim VPHR Anderson and VPHR Ray through presentations at monthly APC meetings.
