Mourning – The campus community came together on Oct. 30 to honor the memory of lives lost and those injured at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, and the murder of two black people at a grocery store in Kentucky over the weekend. A vigil, hosted by Chabad Jewish Student Organization with remarks by CSU President Tony Frank, Rabbi Yerachmiel Gorelik, Assistant Dean of Students John Henderson and others, drew about 500 people to the Lory Student Center ballroom for candle-lighting, poems, and prayers. In their invitation to campus, Vice Presidents Blanche Hughes and Mary Ontiveros said the goal of the vigil was to bring light, comfort, and peace, to take time to come together and support one another and unite against hate.
